2D to 3D

For the 2D to 3D project I decided to focus on reflecting from the soap project.  I used a high-definition picture of bubbles and put three soap carvings in each bubble.   I did this because the soap project wasn't necessarily my favorite project and I wanted to do something that would make me happier about the project.  I enjoy using Photoshop so I thought this would be a great idea!

Themed Project

For the themed project I focused on using a technique I used on the Sculpture projects.  This technique is called quilling.  This is when one cuts paper into very small pieces and twirls them around a tool to get the paper to be shaped the way one desires.  I really enjoyed this project because I like using paper and the specific technique I used.

Soap Carvings

The Soap carvings I found challenging.  This to me was the hardest project.  I made many soap sculptures just to fail at the end with a broken leg or what not.  The soap was easy to work with but there was no way to fix a single mistake so in that aspect it was really hard.  Below is my final soap carving along with the soap carving I destroyed.  When I destroyed the soap carving I did ten things to the soap.  5 adding materials and 5 subtracting.  I cut the soap, microwaved it, put it in the oven, cut in up again this time using scissors, put pins in the soap, spray painted it, put more pins in with different colored soap, put it in water, froze it and finally light the soap on fire.

Memento

For the memento project I used a memory that I had from the first week of school.  I transferred to Flagler College from the University of Tampa, the University of Tampa was really nice just not what I personally was looking for.  I will never forget the first time I got to Flagler.  The sky was so pretty and the air was so fresh.  The memento is a skyline.  This is something that I look forward to seeing every morning and every night.  The two colors I choose were orange and blue these colors are very important because they are warm and inviting just like Flagler.

Relief Architecture Assignment

Relief Architecture Assignment was challenging yet rewarding.  For this project we were to select two architecture time periods and merge them together while incorporating the elements and principles of design to each sculpture.  The time periods I chose is the Renaissance and Post Modern time frame.  Below are examples of buildings I tried to merge together to create one piece.

After finishing my research I was ready to execute my design. I began with the base and worked my way up to the top of the building.  The most challenging part of this assignment for me was make the buildings come together as one.  I feel as though I did a great job doing this after many trials and errors.  Below is a picture of my sketches and finished product.

Paper City

For this assignment the objective was to construst two sculputers that demonstrate structure, stability and kinetic movement.  This project was difficult but with hard work, I was able to get the final product that I wanted.  Below are pictures of my final product as well as a picture of mid progress.

Tape Shoes

The paper shoe assignment was a complex but rewarding project.  For this project the object was to create an exact replica of a pair of shoes by only using masking tape.  I found this assignment complex because the tape was a challenging material for me to work with.  Often times I found myself frustrated with the way the tape was folding or landing but after many trials I was able to get the hang of it.  Now I was able to focus more on the dimensions of the shoes rather than the material I was using. For this process I traced the outline of the shoe on paper and then made a replica of each part of the paper shoe but this time with tape.   I was happy with my results as the final product looked much like the shoes I was trying to create.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

1.) A plane ticket.  Every since I could walk I have always loved traveling, no matter where I was going I was always thrilled for a new adventure. Waking up early and rushing to the airport with my family while excitement rises throughout the car was always something I felt very lucky to experience.

2.) A sculpture of my beautiful bullmastiff.  This creature has become nothing short of my best friend and I would be nothing without her wonderful presences.

3.) A Bouquet Flowers.  Because there's just nothing that can beat the feeling of unexpectedly receiving something of such beauty.

4.) A Candle.  The scent of the candle is a fresh beach like smell.  While growing up I always enjoyed spending time at the beach, as it felt like my own place to relax and debrief.

5.) A Hat.  Because who doesn't like fashion!

6.) A Room Decor.  The room decor reads, "sisters make the best friends" which is something I could not agree more with.

7.) A Pair Of Sunglasses.  This is my guilty pleasure, I have for some odd reason began to buy sunglasses almost like they are a collectors items.

8.) And finally, A Bottle Of Wine.  Ever since I have been legal to drink I loved this particular bottle.
